The first journal article on the Veterans’ Use of Video Games Study has been accepted for publication at Social Science and Medicine! In this study of 20 US military veteran gamers who were in mental or behavioral health treatment talked to us about their gaming experiences and how they were related to mental health. A multidisciplinary team of communications researchers, clinicians and public health specialists came together to design and conduct the study, which provides a good starting point for looking at how commercial video games might be useful (or interfere with) mental health and recovery.
